Want to grow your business and win contracts? We will tell you how!
1. Do Your Research
Always research the buying organisation and other similar organisations. Have there been similar contracts, what’s different? Who else has delivered similar? The more you know the better your tender response will be.
2. Read all documents Twice. And then again
When you’re trying to win contracts, understanding is crucial. Before you start writing, you need to study all the tender documents, the specifications, the schedules, the terms and conditions etc.
You will need to really understand all the information available to you, take notes and share them. Look for key details and core words.
3. You can never Prepare Enough
Prepare you response, have some relevant case studies for previous clients to hand in case you are asked to evidence previous examples. Are they similar in size, scope and complexity to the tender? If it’s not relevant don’t include it in your bid!
4. Value wins Business, let them know your
When you’re bidding for public sector contracts, demonstrate added value for money in your tender response. One good example is social value, is now mandatory in public sector contracts, with a compulsory weighting of 10%. Therefore, you need to show the organisation how you’ll deal with environmental, social and economic factors. Are you taking on apprentices? Doing voluntary charity work with your staff? Operating a sustainable transport offer for your commuting staff? What are you giving back to the community?
5. Review and Review Once More
Never stop reading all the document after the initial draft, be prepared to constantly review your work for errors and inconsistencies. To do this, you should focus on two key areas: Be clear, are really answering the buyer’s questions or what they think they want to read? Is your bid free of simple spelling and grammar errors?
6. Submit the bid before time
Make sure that you’re ready to submit your tender response with enough time before the deadline ends. Never ever wait until 11am to submit a tender due for 12pm.
